Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information TripTribe collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using TripTribe, you agree to the practices described here.

1

Information We Collect

  • Account information: name, email address, city, and optional bio/social links.
  • Verification information: a live selfie photo, if you choose to verify your account. This is used solely to confirm you're a real person and to show hosts/attendees a trust badge. It is not sold or shared with third parties.
  • Activity data: Xperiences you create, join, or request to join; messages you send in Xperience chats; reviews and ratings you give or receive.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser/device type, and pages visited, collected automatically via cookies and analytics tools (see Section 5).
2

How We Use Your Information

  • To operate the Service: creating your account, matching you with Xperiences, and enabling chat between members of the same Xperience.
  • To build trust and safety: showing verification badges, ratings, and review history to other members.
  • To send you transactional notifications (join request updates, messages, verification codes) via email.
  • To improve the Service: understanding usage patterns and fixing issues, via aggregated analytics.
  • To enforce our Terms of Service and keep the community safe.
3

What Other Members Can See

Your display name, profile photo, city, bio, verification badge, hosting/attendance stats, and public reviews are visible to other members of the Service. Your email address and any uploaded selfie used for verification are never shown to other members. They're used internally only to confirm your identity.

4

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited cases:

  • Service providers who host our infrastructure and data (e.g. our database and authentication provider, Supabase), strictly to operate the Service on our behalf.
  • Other members, limited to the public profile information described in Section 3.
  • Legal requirements, if required to comply with a valid legal request, or to protect the safety of our members or the public.
5

Cookies & Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We also use Google Analytics to understand how the Service is used (e.g. which pages are visited). This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally to us beyond what's already in your account. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work properly without them.

6

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Service.

When you delete your account, we keep your data for 30 days in a deactivated state before permanent removal. This gives you a chance to change your mind: logging back in during that window lets you restore your account exactly as it was. Once the 30 days pass, your profile and associated personal data are permanently deleted from our systems, except where we're required to retain certain records for legal, safety, or fraud-prevention reasons (e.g. records of a safety report involving your account).

7

Data Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and row-level security on our database, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

8

Your Rights

You can, at any time:

  • Access and update most of your profile information directly from your account settings.
  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Delete your account directly from your profile page. You'll have 30 days to restore it by logging back in before it's permanently removed.
  • Withdraw consent for optional features (e.g. remove a selfie verification) at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.

9

Children's Privacy

TripTribe is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we've collected such information, we'll delete it promptly.

10

Where Your Data Is Stored

Our infrastructure is hosted in data centers in India. Some service providers we use may process data in other regions as part of delivering their service to us, in which case we take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected consistent with this Policy.

11

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in-app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
